What are the components of a legally defensible job description?

Frankly, I don't know what you mean. As far as I know, there is no legal requirement to have a job description. Often, employers do have written job descriptions. Job descriptions can become legally relevant in determining whether an employee is able to perform his or her job in the context of disability and workers compensation claims. A good job desription is one that accurately describes the job.
