if i was fired from my job and they lied to unemployment about the reason, can i sue them

First, you want to obtain unemployment benefits if you are entitled to them. Appeal any adverse ruling. I have represented employees before at such hearings. As for suing your employer, I doubt you would have a claim based solely on what it told unemployment, but you may have a claim based on wrongful termination.
