Legal Question in Employment Law in Massachusetts

In January 2009 I started working for RGIS Inventory Company located in Auburn, Massachusetts. In February 2009 I received an e-mail from the area manager saying they were going to terminate me. Is it legal for them to fire me through an e-mail?
