The short answer, without having any further information, is that Massachusetts is an at-will employment state. This means that, in the absence of an employment contract, an employee can basically be terminated for any reason or no reason. The exceptions to this include the fact that employers can not discriminate against members of a protected class and can not retaliate against an employee for acting in a legally protected manner or refusing to undertake an action which would be considered illegal.

You might want to consder such factors in order to assist you in determining whether you may have an actionable case against your employer in Massachusetts, as well as examining what damages you could allege and what you would be looking for.

You may wish to speak to a lawyer in more depth to explore theses and other related issues.

Good luck.
