Re: abandonment of one side of duplex

Take your deed and her deed (a copy of which you can obtain from the Registry of Deeds) to an attorney to determine if they reveal any common rights.

Re: abandonment of one side of duplex

You do not say how the property is held. If there is a deed of both units to you both as Tenants in Common, then you can file a Petition to Partition the Property, basically it allows for the property to be separated or sold.

The best way to proceed is to get a copy of your deed and if she has a seperate deed a copy of her deed and take it to an attorney. You can get your deed and hers from the Registry of Deeds.
