Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Massachusetts

locating heirs

I am executrix of mother's will. I want to disburse the remaining money. I don't know where 2 siblings are. The first checks went out and were received by them. The next one was not received. Other siblings have said they have moved but left no forwarding addresses. What is my responsibility to them? Do I have to find them? At whose cost?

Re: locating heirs

I would need more details to answer fully but you should be able to get the forwarding addrress from the post office if it is within one year. The estate should be filing the final accounting nine months after the date of death. Hold undistributed money in escrow, you cannot convert money to yourself or to the other heirs, this is self dealing and you could be found liable for a lot more money in the end.
