Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Massachusetts

property with no will

My mother inlaw remarried 3 years ago, the house she lives in was owned by her husband. He has a daughter and a son from his 1st marriage. What rights does my mother inlaw have? Are his adult children entitled to half? Does she have to move? There is no will. She is not on the deed.

Re: property with no will

By MA intestate law 50% of what your Mother-in-laws husband owned in his own name alone passes to his surviving spouse and 50% to his children in equal shares. She should consult an attorney in case some facts not revealed here might provide her with other options. Good Luck!
