Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Michigan

HELP!!! I just got a Summons and Complaint. A lady came to my home, didn't announcer her name or anything. Just handed me a packet of papers. They were NOT in an envelope nor was there anything to sign. The papers are dated Dec. 20, Jan 18 and Jan 27. But I JUST RECEIVED THEM, my son even answered the door so he witnessed it. My question is: Am I already out of time? Did they delay giving these papers to me so they automatically win? There isn't even a date or time on these papers for me to go INTO court, just that I have 21 days from recieving them to file a response.
