unpaid debt

I was told that debt that were not paid of for several years could not be collected in Michigan. Could explain this

Generally, failure to pay a debt is a breach of contract or the account become "stated." The statute of limitations for both of these potential claims of a creditor, in Michigan, is six years. If there has been no activity on a debt for six years, meaning no purchases or payments, and the debt has not been somehow affirmed by the debtor (debtor admits he/she owes debt), the creditor cannot collect.
