Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan

Friend needs help

My good friend was arrested for burglary of a car, which he did not commit. Basicallly what happened was a car had a window busted out, and he noticed it. Outside of the car was some stuff he guessed was from the car. He called to the police station (not 911) and tried to report it. Since he was not the owner he could not. He asked the officer on the phone if he could put these thins back in the car, they said yes. So he did and locked it back. (a door was left opened) I guess the police dept. dusted for prints and his were found in it. Now they have arrested him. He has not be charged yet. I guess they spoke with him and released him. He hs hired a lawyer, and he says that the police have no case. My question is, considering the total circumstances are his fingerpritns enough evidence to take him to court or charge him with the crime?
