Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan

Neighbor Threatened My Daughter

My family moved into our current home two years ago and we get along with all of our neighbors except one. The one family we don't get along with is relatively powerful in our community and the local police tend to look the other way when someone has a complaint against them. In short, they are bullies. My dilemma involves my daughter and the ''bully family'''s children. They have a son who has threatened my daughter with a knife when he answered the door (both my daughter and this little boy are 9 years old). He constantly threatens to hurt her or kill her and he has thrown large rocks and other items at her. My husband and I decided to ban her from playing with the children and to stay away from their house. Today the mother in the bully family got mad at my daughter, spewed profanities to the children playing with my daughter and told the children that she was going to give her children permission to physically harm my daughter if they saw her. I refuse to try to talk to the family because they are stubborn and totally fly off the handle. Other than them, we love our neighbors and don't want to move. Any advice on how to handle this situation? I'm scared that the ''adults'' in the family gave their kids consent to harm my child.

Re: Neighbor Threatened My Daughter

1. Report the problem to the State Police and the county Sheriff instead of the local police.

2. Hire an attorney to file for a peace bond and/or a personal protection order
