Child support, is it mandatory?

I've recently asked my husband for a divorce. I also am in the process of buying a new home. My husband and I don't have any debts together and we don't own anything neither.

My husband is afraid of having to pay child support, I don't want any!!!

Is it mandatory that he pays this???

You can waive child support.
