Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

old divorce issues

In 2000 my ex wife and i got divorced. In agreement she had certain bills to pay and so did i. I did pay off mine but years later(like 7) I am getting bills from collections about these bills she did not pay per divorce agreement. She also had a very large dental bill for herself and used my name and ss# again years later i was in collections. per our divorce agreement any bills we ''made'' after seperation are our own to take care of and not to hold the other party responsible. What can I do?

Re: old divorce issues

I would advise that you file a Petition for an Order to Show Cause for her not following the Judgment of Divorce. You may have a claim for fraud since she used your SSN for a credit account. I would contact a Family Law Attorney in your area.

You can go back to court to have the judge enforce the judgment.

There is lots you can do. You might be able to sue the collection agencies, and you certainly can sue your ex-wife. In what county are you?
