Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

If my husband and I divorce we will live in two different states. My husband is from Mississippi and I am from Michigan. (married in Michigan) He travels for his job, is it possible to put restrictions on who can watch our son when my husband is working? Or who can be at the house when my son is there? Do I need any paperwork to prove why I don't want other individuals there when my son is there?

If the parties cannot agree on parenting time terms etc. the issue must be decided by the court. Parenting time issues will be referred to the FOC for investigation and recommendation. Once agreed to, or decided by the court, it is very difficult to change later.

You should have an attorney represent you or at the very least have counsel review any agreement that is reached. It is very common to miss issue(s) or not fully understand terms and the future consequences. If you have any questions feel free to contact me.

Is it possible to have restrictions to parenting time? Short answer, yes. However, it is not a simple task, and based on the limited facts presented, the likelihood of success is unknown.

Not only do you need the paperwork and evidence that supports your request, you also need to present it to the Judge or Referee in the proper manner. I suggest that you meet with a family law attorney. Good luck.
