Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

i live in VA. my ex filed in michigan. do i have to attend the early intervention conference even if i live out of state.

You are a party to the divorce and the rules require you to be there. You risk major repercussions if you fail to attend. However, attending will definitely have a benefit. You are treating the custody issue as if it is not binding because it is in Michigan. However, a court in another state would honor the Michigan judgment. Therefore, you should act accordingly and treat the EIC seriously, even though not much happens there. William S. Stern
