Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Michigan

My wife and I signed a 2 year lease. It is up on September 1st 2011. The owners of the house called and said they were putting the house up for sale because of financial hardship. We were told of this on February 16 2011. He called us this evening (February 22, 2011) and said the house was sold and they want to move in April 1st. So we have to move. He instructed us that he spoke to an attorney and he said as long as he gives us 30 days he could do that?

No. The sale is subject to your lease (assuming the lease has no "outs" for the landlord), and you can stay until the end of the lease. Responding from iPhone so can't expand on answer now. If your landlord persists, you should call an attorney and have your lease reviewed. www.MichiganEstatePlans.com or (888) 487-6150
