Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Michigan

Can Landlords Really Do This?

If you are renting a room from someone and your rent is paid and you have deposit but no lease can they just kick you out? Or do they still have to go through the legal process of eviction? and if so can you tell me what that is in the state of Michigan. Thank you

Re: Can Landlords Really Do This?

If you a renting on a month to month basis, the landlord must give you 30 days notice to move (assuming you are not delinquent in rent or not engaged in illegal activities, etc.). After 30 days if you have not left voluntarily, the landlord must take you to court to evict you. Self-help eviction is not allowed in Michigan. www.lawgreg.com
