Legal Question in Traffic Law in Michigan

My Michigan no fault lapsed

I was at fault in an auto accident with no insurance both vehicles were totaled. the other driver said she was not hurt. She stated she had insurance. A tyrod broke on my vehicle sending me into oncoming traffic. I received tickets for careless driving, expired liscense, and no proof of insurance. What will happen next? Will her insurance company sue us? Will they just pay for her vehicle? How much trouble am I going to be in? I am unemployed & trying to get social security for disability. I have no income coming in at this time. Can they or will they come after my wifes house? The van is in her name also. My wife works at a lower paying job - so we barly can make ends meet. We have 2 children & do everything just to keep a roof over our head. We receive aid thru the state.

Re: My Michigan no fault lapsed

If this is your first offense, it's unlikely you'll go to jail.

Your wife's house and her van are safe but, since you're unable to pay, it's also highly unlikely that you'll ever have a driver's license again.
