Finding a deceased person's attorney

My uncle recently died suddenly and we are needing to find his power of attorney paper and who is attorney is. How would we obtain this information?

that's a tough one. Other than going through his papers to find the originals, there is no way of determine this. Look for a business card, checks written to an attorney or law firm, etc. If you can't find this, you could try to open the estate and the court will check to see if the will is on file there. A power of attorney is no longer valid upon the death of the grantor. Therefore, it is futile to look for the power of attorney document.

You do not need his former attorney and can open an estate with an attorney of your choice.
