i live in michigan my dad passed away without a will, what do i need to file for his property to be put in my name?

If the deed states that it is joint names with full rights of survivorship, only his death certificate needs to be filed with the county register of deeds where the property is located. If the deed states anything else, you may need to open an estate in his name with the probate court to officially transfer the property. If your father died with property only in his name, or property not titled joint with rights of survivorship, you will need to open a probate estate. There are different types of estates that can be opened depending on the amount of estate assets. I would be glad to help if you need it.
