ex sibling on deed not in will

mother passed 2 months ago. the will says everthing goes to me and my brother. the quick cliam deed to the house has my mothers name, my brother,and me including an ex step brother when she was married. she was divorced 8 years ago and the will states she is unmarried he is not mentioned in the will does he have claim to the house we have had no further contact with him after the divorce. do we need to contact him to settle the estate my broyher and i want the house in are names alone to live in and use it for equity

Based on the facts you describe your "ex-step brother" may have a claim since his name is listed on the deed. Was the quit claim deed recorded? If not, are you sure that the deed you describe is in fact the last deed from your mother? I suggest you check with the County Register of Deeds to determine who is listed on last recorded deed of record.
