Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Minnesota

My finance got a message from the HR rep at her work that a law firm Alexander Williams "an attorney's office" or they will be going to her place of employment with a summons if she does not reply by the next day the phone # left was 888-822-5844 ext. 410 and we were wondering if this is legal and if she is at any risk. She was scammed out of over $500.00 from a online payday loan a year ago after she was trying to pay the debt back they contacted her the same way as this and she sent them a money order and shortly after that the payday place said they never received such payment i am worried they are trying to threaten her again out of more money. Please Help

What you just described sounds like a violation of your fiance's rights. This is a tricky situation because I suspect the person or firm calling her are is not a legitimate debt collector or debt collection company. I would file a report with the Federal Trade Commission (www.ftc.gov).

Our firm would be more than happy to to talk about her individual situation. You can pass along our website (www.mincal.com) or call us directly at 952-314-1400.
