legal immigrant to file for bankruptcy

i am a legal immegrant who got him self in dedt.can i file for bankrupcty,and how?i try with a debtprogram,but got behind on my payments because my car broke down 3 times in the row.i called a lawyer and ask about the fees for bankrupcty,but it would cost almost 1000$.if i had that money i would not have to file for bankrupcty.is there any legal-aid in minnesota which does not cost so much money to file.i am a single mom with 2 kids and a steady job.i just dont make enough money to pay off my bills.the creditors are clothing in on me.is there help in minnesota

You can file bankruptcy as a legal immigrant. I can certainly understand your situation. I am not familiar with any legal aid clinics in Minnesota that handle bankruptcy cases.
