Legal Question in Family Law in Minnesota

Will marriage end child support?

I live with my woman and marriage might be coming up in a year or two. My woman gets child support from her ex-husband. He is also obligated to pay half of certain expenses, like education or medical costs not covered by insurance. If we get married, will that end the child support and/or his obligations to pay for his share of these expenses?

Re: Will marriage end child support?

Child support does not end upon a parent's remarriage. Similarly, payments for child related expenses do not typically end upon remarriage, and I cannot think of any circumstance in which such payments would be characterized as spousal maintenance (which usually does terminate upon remarriage) as opposed to child support.
