Legal Question in Employment Law in Minnesota

Good verses Evil

In the many years of employment, I have gathered company documents for protection and to prove that the company was engaged in fraudulent business practices. This company is being sued for violating the Sarbanes Oxley law and knows that I am in poccession of sensitive company documents and is demanding that I return all documents immediately or they will persue legal proceedings against me. Is there a law that makes it illegal to obtain and hold company documents for any reason?
