Legal Question in Employment Law in Minnesota
slander, libel, defamation
I have an ex-employer that is reporting on job references that I have had 2 accidents while working for them, but I have had 1 incident, no accidents. For a truck driver, this makes me unhireable, having 2 accidents in one year. How do I get them to stop? They will not return phone calls, and only hang up on me when I call them. Could this employer be subject to damages?

Re: slander, libel, defamation
What you describe is slander per se, meaning it absolute is actionable since it goes to your career qualifications.
I would recommend a Cease & Desist letter from an attorney, followed up by a lawsuit if they didn't comply.
