Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Minnesota

Realtor invoice

A realtor show us some homes last year and we found nothing. This year we looked on our own and found a home, had a friend who was a realtor look at it and let us know what he thought and then purchased the home (twin home in an association). The realtor from last year is now sending us an invoice. Can commission be charged when she had nothing to do with the purchase?

Re: Realtor invoice

The short answer is, probably not. It really depends on what your written contract with the realtor says. Usually, a realtor is only entitled to commisson if you buy a house that the realtor showed you.
