Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Minnesota

Brother not giving any information

My brother is the Executor of my Dad's estate. Dad passed away 12-04. Since his death, my brother has kept alot of the information of our Dad's estate net worth a big secret. There is 7 of us that are heirs to the estate. We have been very patient with him knowing that this is not an easy task. After 1 year my Brother disbursed differnt amounts to each of us. Then he found every excuse to keep inforamtion we requested from us. 5 of us retained a Lawyer to send a demand letter to him asking for the documentaion to show what he had done with the investments, along with other items. He responded with a copy of the will and a hand written itemized list of where some of the monies had gone. He said is financial advisor was out of town and could not include andy documents of the investments of financials. He had indicated to a couple of us that he reinvested the stocks. Does he have the authority to do so, and is there a way of finding out from another source how much Dad had in investments

thanks for your help.

Re: Brother not giving any information

Sure. There should be an inventory of assets which was filed with the probate court. Call the probate court in question and ask them what's on file and how to get a copy of it. You will probably need to actually go to the court house.
