Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Mississippi

Garnishment

I received a letter from an Attorney's frim here in Georgia saying my wages are going to be garnished. It stem from a medical bill in Mississippi. What are the statutes of limitation on collecting medical bills in Mississippi? This bill was placed in collection in 1998. I received no notice or summons to appear before the judge here in Georgia, but there's a judgement in Mississippi on this bill.

Re: Garnishment

The important thing is to see a lawyer immediately. While I can't give you an off the top of my head answer for another state, it is very likely that judgment is still valid and active. We'd need to see everything to answer for sure.

In most cases the only way to stop a garnishment is bankruptcy. If you think that is what you may want to do go to www.glenashman.com and print out a free worksheet and then give us a call.
