Legal Question in Criminal Law in Mississippi

Felony restoration of rights

I would like advice regarding receiving a restoration of rights to include possession of a firearm. I plead guilty to possession of counterfeit of $200 10 years ago. I have had no legal problems ever except for this one mistake. But I have an opportunity for employment if I can carry a firearm. My felony occured in Mississippi however, I am a resident of Alabama. Would like to know how much this process would cost me.

Re: Felony restoration of rights

I would estimate this process would cost approximately $3500 to $5000 as it probably would need to be processed through the Federal system. There is a process (application) which can be compelted. You should use an experienced Criminal Attorney to complete the paperwork in this ordeal. It is not always successful, and you probably will be required to expend the funds before you know the results. Restoration of the right to carry a firearm, alone, is not the same as expungement of the conviction on an "overall basis". That process (expungement) would also take time, thus would be a cost burden as well.
