Do credit card companies have a statute of limitations on a charged off account? Can they pursue a charged off account? Can another source legally pursue this account?

Re: Bad debt satute of limitations

In Mississippi, it is 3 years from the date of the charge to the account. Another source can pursue it as an agent for the creditor or as an assignee. If the person is a debt collector, there are limitations according to the Fair Debt Collection Act as to what the collect can do. If you feel there has been a violation, file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission.
