Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Mississippi

Sibling trying to sue over estate

My sister is threatening to take me to court over our deceased mother home. We both have 50% ownership in the home. All of a sudden she wants to move out. I can't get a mortgage right now and she is threatning to take me to court if I refuse to sign the paper to sell it. I have a baby due in 4 weeks and can't afford to live anywhere else. Can she does this, if so, what can I do??

Re: Sibling trying to sue over estate

My suggestion is to tell her to take you to court. Since you are a part owner, she can not get you evicted because you are not a renter. You may have to hire a lawyer at some point to protect your rights in the property. The sooner you get an attorney the better for you. You can not be made to sign anything and no court will make you sign any paper to sell the property.
