Legal Question in Technology Law in Missouri

ok...no pics....what about words?

You answered my question about posting pics of the ex, but what if I still create the web site and post the story of her cheating and the things she did to me? Would she be able to sue me there? Also, we had a second mortgage together. In the divorce papers I was to pay that. She (and her new boyfriend) refinanaced the house and paid off everything. Now she is coming after me for $7000. I refused to pay...what can she do to get that money from me in another state?

I would highly recommend that you refrain from using the internet to post disparaging remarks, pictures or otherwise about anyone. You are likely to open yourself up to a slew of liability issues and lawsuits. Because you are using the internet, your actions could potentially fall subject to federal laws.

Retaliation is never a good reason to push the limits of the laws.

Although you have a first amendment right to tell anyone you want about what happened to you, you have to remember that slander and libel laws are meant to check not only blatant lies but also half-truths. So much of what happens at or near a divorce is subject to different views and different perspectives. She may have cheated on you, but the bottom line is, unless she admitted it, you're going to have a hard time proving it. Although it is unlikely she would sue you for slander or libel, she could certainly sue for defamation and for publication of private facts. Whether she would win would be another question, but you'd still wind up paying legal bills.

If the ex and her boyfriend paid off the house and are coming after you for the remainder, they can sue you and they can try and collect. Depending on the way the decree is worded, they may be successful, but you have not provided enough facts to give a solid answer.

Good luck.
