Re: divorce

Although you have the legal right to represent yourself in court, I would very strongly advise you to hire an attorney to represent you in the divorce. There are several legal concepts which you need to understand in order to be sure that you make informed decisions that are in your best interests and in the best interests of your child. Mistakes that you might make doing this on your own might not be able to be fixed at a later date, or if they are able to be fixed will cost much more time, effort and money at that point. We have seen an increase in the number of people trying to handle their own divorces without an attorney, and we will be seeing a lot of those people hiring lawyers somewhere down the road as a direct result. Even a non-contested divorce can be complex and difficult for the most experienced attorney, and much more so for someone less experienced. Please take my advice and at least consult with an attorney before you make any final decision on how to proceed.
