Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

can i stop paying child support now

my daughter is 19 at college in springfield 2nd year and living of campus. When she comes home she is now living with her boy friend and not at her mothers. do I still have to keep paying the money to my wife for child support? I already pay for health insurence home owners insurance denist, doctor bills,Auto insurence, and gas for her car via credit card and send half of the support to my daughter each month? When the settlement was made, 8 years ago I earned 15,000.00 more for only two years. since then I earn only, $10.000.00 a year or less. But have always paid the amount that was set up when I earned over 25,000.00 per year. thank you for your time

Re: can i stop paying child support now

You should not automatically stop paying court ordered child support. You may want to go to the clerk's office at the courthouse and see if they have a form for you to seek a termination of your child support obligation based upon your daughter's being emancipated due to not living with her mother. Or, you might want to hire an attorney to check into this for you. Good luck.
