Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Missouri

1-If a relative leaves you an inheritance in their will,how long would be resonable amount of time to receive it?

2- If you are willed money is it common practice to have to wait years for them to sell property to receive it?

3- If #2 is common practice, how can a set dollar amount be specified to distibute when noone knows what property will be valued at at the time of death?

Answers: 1. Most probate estates close within one year. 2. Most probate judges won't let you wait that long absent unusual circumstances. 3. This is difficult to answer without knowing a lot of specifics. You should check the probate file at the courthouse where the probate is being administered. You should also check with the Personal Representative appointed by the court (the "executor"), and/or the attorney for the estate. They should have all of the answers.
