There is no doubt that you should obtain your own legal advice rather than enter into any settlement without representation. The doctor who gave you that 5% rating is paid either by your employer or your employer's insurance company. They routinely make very low ratings in order to pay out the very least amount possible in settlement. They are not concerned with what is right or fair for you. Also, there appears to be the possibility that you still require some treatment. If you speak with an attorney, your attorney will look out for your best interests and get you the treatment you need together with a fair amoount as compensation. In most cases, the person in your position comes out with more money in their pocket after settlement using an attorney than they would have without one, and that is after the attorney takes a contingency fee of 25% out of the settlement! Your attorney will also have you rated by an objective doctor, if not a doctor who might even lean a little bit in your direction. I have personally handled many worker's comp cases, and I know the top legal expert in the field here in Missouri. I am sure that we could help you, and you should feel free to give me a call anytime. There will be no charge for the phone call. No matter what you decide to do, I hope that you fully recover from your injuries and I wish you the best of luck with your claim.
