Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Nevada

Credit reporting

Between a MD's office in (nevada) and our CA insurance co. our bill went to collections. The MD's office coded wrong when billing the insurance co and the insurance refused to pay. After 3 yrs they finally resubmitted with correct coding on the bill and got paid in full w/ interest by ins co. The MD's office so far has refused to send letter to us confirming payment and releasing the collections. We have talked to the office manager at least 7 times and each time she states she is in the process of sending it.For example, today she stated I would have it within 30 minutes. It has now been over 1 month since they have been paid in full, but it still shows up on our credit report. We are in the process of trying to buy a house and we need this off our credit report. The insurance company has confirmed they have paid it. Also the MD's office has not notified the collection agency either. What recourse do I have. If they were local I would go into the office however the office is in Las Vegas. I have tried to talk to the MD however I have not been successful due to the office staff.

Re: Credit reporting

You need to write a letter to the credit reporting agency with copies of proof of payment and dispute listing as inaccurate or whatever your situation is. if they do not remove after your dispute letter, then you need to see an attorney to file a lawsuit for violations of Fair Credit Reporting Act.
