Legal Question in Family Law in Nevada

Divorce from spouse of unknown whereabouts

I want to divorce my wife who left 4 years ago, but I don't know where she is. She is from another country and perhaps she is there, but I'm not sure. I have met someone else and wish to remarry. My question is: Can I get a quick divorce in Nevada without knowing where she is, and how long does one have to be in Nevada to obtain a divorce there? Also, how quickly can I remarry?

Your message was posted in the California forum. You need to post this in the Nevada forum. As a resident of California, you can file for dissolution of marriage in California, and you can serve her by publication in a newspaper after doing a due dilligence search for her.

I suggest that you consult with an experienced family law lawyer. Experience is not expensive, it's priceless!

Re: Divorce from spouse of unknown whereabouts

You would have to live in Nevada for at least 6 weeks and have the intent to remain here for an indefinite period of time to get divorced here by publication or otherwise.
