Legal Question in Employment Law in Nevada

I feel my name was slandered and would like it corrected. I was a teacher in a stressful work environment. I was not given a transfer so I did not return.I put in my resignation. After my last paycheck I put in for unemployment. At the end of this legal meeting which I had no idea would be what it was as I had no representation. The lawyer had the last statement. Which I did not even give one because I didnt really understand that it was like a court hearing. He said with my employers and the judge? that I took from both unemployment and medical? I didnt file for unemployment until after I received my last check. I could not defend myself. Please help. Please.

It sounds like you appeared at an appeal hearing before a referee. Generally, that is your only opportunity to introduce arguments, evidence and objections. You likely have very little chance of upsetting the referee's decision. Notwithstanding, did you receive any unemployement benefits prior to the appeal hearing? If so, you will likely be asked to pay back those funds. If repayment would cause you an extreme hardship, however, an attorney may be able to help you qualify for a hardship waiver.
