If you know that a person has hacked into your computer/emails and has used your emails to communicate to others, can it be tracked back to them, to show it was there computer they used to do the hacking, and harrasing with? and if so, what could be the penalty, for this illegal act?

Thank You

Re: Tracking Hackers

There are federal and state codes regulating this type of email "spoofing", etc...This illegal activity is actionable more often than not without you having to show actual damages, as statutory liquidated damages are often the case. Meaning, even if you cannot show how you were harmed, the law still allows you to recover up to $1000 or more per each email violation, depending on jurisdiction. Re: Tracking Hackers

Have you been damaged monetarily or otherwise?

The FBI usually has jurisdiction, but without monetary loss or another crime (threats, child porn etc.) it would be hard to get their attention.Call or e=mail for further assistance.
