Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New Hampshire

default on a lease

i had a car lease and 2 years ago went out on permanent disability due to a degenerative disease. As a result, I voluntarily returned the car and could not pay the remainder of the lease. I get constant calls about it now from a collection agency/lawyer (?) I can not pay it as I only get a small amount on ss disability, and have high medical costs. they are threatening further legal action if I do not pay up. what can they do to me? I do not own any property or have any assets other than a few meager household goods. I even live in assisted housing. My wife was a co-signer although she was not working at the time of the signing and still does not work as she must take care of me. she has no assets or income either. We both survive on just the SS.

Re: default on a lease

If your only income is state support, you technically owe the debt but it is uncollectable
