Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New Hampshire

'' How to remove a name off the deed to my home

I purchased a 2-family home last year, and I put my boyfriends name on the title to my home. Things are not going well between us and if we split up how do I get his name off the deed to my home? Who do I contact to get a legal documentation to have him sign off my house?

I hope you can help me with this issue.

Thank you.

Re: '' How to remove a name off the deed to my home

Hello and Thanks for your Inquiry -

My name is Len Foy and I am a real estate attorney with Gould & Gould in Londonderry NH. Our office telephone # is (603) 434-3437, my mobile # is (603) 978-0421 and my email address is [email protected].

Your boyfriend or ex-boyfriend would have to sign a deed conveying his interest in the property to you. One question I have, did you add him to the deed because he contributed towards the down payment, or because he made a financial contribution of some kind, or did you add him to the deed for another reason?

If you'd like to meet sometime this week to discuss the case with me feel free to contact my office directly, or you can send me an email.

Regards and Good Luck -

Len Foy

The simple answer is you can't remove his name unless he agrees and signs a new deed conveying his interest in the property to you.
