Attorneys Withholding Estate Money

If my wife is the executrix of her fathers will, and estate. How long can the widow's lawyer withhold estate checks before having to turn them over to the executrix? And what can be done to recieve the checks?

Creditors have six months to make monetary claims against the state of a decedant so it is is wise not to distribute all the asets of an estate before that time.

However, if you know most of the bills have been paid and you do not anticipate any major surprises,, the attorney can make an interim distribution. By the way, you are the executor and the attorney should be taking direction from you as long as you are requesting things that are legal and ethical.
