calls from collection agencies

Do collection agencies have the right to call my friends and relatives about my loan and payment info without having my permission? These calls are non stop and daily.

Re: calls from collection agencies

If the debt was for personal, family or household purposes, then the debt collector has violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). Under the FDCPA, the debt collector can only contact friends and family to obtain your location information. If the debt collector knows your location information, then he/she can't call your friends or family at all. The debt collector cannot share any information about the debt at any time with these parties without your permission. Feel free to contact me if you need additional information.
