I suggest you consult with an attorney as there is too much to talk to you about over this site. After speaking with an attorney, you can decide if it is worth hiring one or not.

My initial consultations are always free, so call me at 732/247/3340 to discuss your case.

First, preserve the evidence. Take notes of the times of the calls and what was said. Find out the name of the collection agency and the caller if you can. If your employer will cooperate, see if you can get recordings. In New Jersey, a telephone call can be recorded if one party consents to the recording; the other party does not have to give permission or be informed.

What the collector is doing violates several provisions of the FDCPA. So, with your evidence, contact an attorney either in NJ or MN. If you have made the case easy to prove, you should have no trouble getting somebody to take it on a contingent fee basis. The FDCPA is there to protect you from these hooples. Use it.
