Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New Jersey

Release of Judgments & Liens

I had a number of judgments and liens filed against me.

I was discharged from Chapter 13 bankruptcy in December 2003.

I do not owe anything in reference to the recorded judgements and liens.

How can I expunge / release these recordings?

Re: Release of Judgments & Liens

The NJ statute that provides for this relief and tells you what to do is N.J.S.A. 2A:16-49.1. You can find this statute at http://lis.njleg.state.nj.us/cgi-bin/om_isapi.dll?clientID=54499536&depth=2&expandheadings=off&headingswithhits=on&infobase=statutes.nfo&softpage=TOC_Frame_Pg42 by typing it in the search box in quotes. (If this URL doesn't come up, shorten it to end with "us." That will take you to a page with a link to the NJ Statutes).
