Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New Jersey

Want repayment of loan

My ex-boyfriend and I were supposed to move in together. I gave him the money for the security deposit, first & last month's rent of the apt. We had problems and I never moved in but we agreed that he would pay me for the money I fronted. He now lives there with his present girlfriend and has been paying me monthly. Yesterday he told me that he was no longer going to pay me. He still owes me about $1,200. Can I get my money back? What are my options?

Re: To get repayment of loan

Go to the office of the Court Clerk of the County in which you live and ask for Small Claims forms. Fill out the forms and they will process them for you. When you go to Court, bring your cancelled checks to prove the debt. Keep in mind that this advice is based purely on the little bit of information that you have given to me. There certainly may be other factors that would change my opinion. Further, no one can rely on advice from an attorney who has not been retained. Since it appears that you have not retained an attorney, you may want to contact an attorney (either me or someone else) to discuss your matter in more detail. Only then will you be able to rely on the advice. I will be happy to assist you. However, you need to call me at 856-546-8010. Good luck! Rob
