If someone filed a bogus harassment complaint against you, and you can show it is bogus, do you need a lawyer when you appear in court?

I would say so. There is no such thing as a slam dunk case, especially when you do not have an attorney.

Yes. You may *think* you can show that the claim is bogus, and in a normal conversation you may even be right. But in court (which includes during pretrial discovery) you have to adhere to rules of evidence and procedure. Your evidence won't get in if you don't know how to present it properly, and how to get better evidence if some of what you already have isn't going to get in. You can have the best facts in the world and still lose because you don't know how to show those facts to the judge and/or jury.
