Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

Meagan's Law

I was released from prison 3 yrs ago for the crime of Sexual Assult. At the time I was told that I did not have to registar under Meagans Law and I was free to go. Now I am liveing in a differant state I'm married and have step children and a child of my own and I got a call from a Po that I have to go back to NJ and registar as a sex offender and there is a possability that I may not be allowed back to Ohio I guess my Question really is How can after 3 yrs of liveing a normal life can they take me back into custody By that I mean tell me I have to stay in NJ and I'm not allowed to leave the state until its worked out I did everything I was supposed to do I served my time I maxed out on my prison sentance and now I may not be allowed to leave NJ or return to my family and what about the house I just bought what happens to it or my family I do not have any history of sexual crimes or any other for that matter If you think you might be able to help please let me know thank you.

The words "may" and "possibility" reveal the value you place on your current life and the fear that you have of losing that life. Knowing nothing about your case I feel that you have nothing to fear because the past three years demonstrate your rehabilitation. I expect to learn that the assault did not involve a child of tender years. You should simply concentrate on finding the solution to your problem because there is one.
